— from the Orcas Island Food Bank Board —

Yes, YOU! Our community who participated in Island Market’s “Feed Orcas”
fundraising drive in November and December for the Orcas Island Food
Bank. The drive broke all records for Island Market as a fundraiser with a
grand total of $9,576.34 contributed at the cash registers as you bought your groceries! And that doesn’t include the $90.26 left by “Santa” in coins quite surreptitiously (see “Santa” story published in December.)

Lead and inspired by Grocery Manager, Daniel Raymer, “The checkers and other market staffers took pride in this event, and their customers took
pleasure in contributing to the OI Food Bank and the community it serves,”
says Food Bank board member Bob Morris.

Island Market has been an invaluable partner with the Food Bank for many,
many years. “I am extremely proud to be part of an Island Market team that
put forth this successful donation drive supporting our community food
bank,” says Raymer. “These donations translate into meals!”

The Food Bank board, volunteers and clients can’t thank you and Island
Market enough for this amazing effort, and rest assured every penny will go toward feeding our clients.
