Every Saturday 11 a.m. – Noon

— from Orcas Island Food Bank —

January 18 marked the beginning of a pilot winter program being implemented this year by the Orcas Island Food Bank. Winter is when it has the highest number of clients visiting, so it will be opening its doors for one hour, from 11 a.m. to noon, every Saturday through mid-April with items limited to the most needed: dairy, produce, bread and protein selections.

Helping to distribute on Saturdays are students belonging to the National Honor Society at Orcas High School. “We’re very excited to see how this trial program goes, and we love having the students involved,” says Board Chair Susan McBain.

This trial program will end mid-April. If you know anyone who may benefit from our winter Saturday distribution, please don’t hesitate to tell them about it and encourage them to stop by!

Thanks to our generous community and invaluable volunteers for helping us make this happen!
