On Saturday, October 17 from 4-6 p.m., there will be a community meeting about Madrona Point at the Oddfellows Hall.

A brief history of this beautiful peninsula will be presented, from its past as a cemetery for both Lummi and white settlers to the successful effort to purchase it for preservation in the 1980’s.

Then we’ll take a look at the 1989 agreement between San Juan County and the Lummi Nation that was the basis for the funding provided by Congress.

Finally, there will be an overview of the problems facing Madrona Point today; this will be followed by a question and answer period.

Everyone is invited to attend and take part in discussing how to create an ongoing way for Madrona Point to be cared for.
