Orcas Island Fire & Rescue Commissioners (county Fire Protection District #2) will meet Tuesday November 22, at 7:30 p.m. for a work session, open to the public. The meeting will be held at the Eastsound Fire Hall.
On the agenda are the subjects of “Meeting Management” and “Chief Search.” Public opinion and conduct at recent meetings of the District Board have been described as “unruly” and “disrespectful” and the commissioners are considering an overall policy for managing the meetings.
It was announced at the last Commissioners Meeting on Nov. 8 that the Chief Search Committee would be announced at tomorrow’s meeting. Current Chief Mike Harris has announced his intent to resign as of Dec. 31, 2011. Commissioner Barbara Bedell heads the Search Committee for a new chief.
Also on the agenda is discussion of the Deer Harbor Station’s status with the Cayou Valley Homeowners Association, and completion of that station’s landscaping contract.
The commissioners will go into Executive Session to discuss Employee Performance.
