Mara Williams, “This book is dedicated to all who have ill for many years and have struggled on a daily basis to get help and feel better against difficult odds. There is hope and you can heal.”

Mara Williams will speak on Lyme Disease at the Orcas Food Co-op at 5:30 on Thursday, May 14.

Mara Williams is the Author of Nature’s Dirty Needle, a primer book on Chronic Lyme disease,  the different co-infections, what the symptoms are, how to recognize them, and how best to get help. This helpful information is intertwined with personal stories told by those who have lived and dealt with these infections.” (from marawilliams.net )
Williams, who formerly lived in Deer Harbor, says, “My main focus has been Chronic Lyme disease and the many co-infections that surround it. It was a stunning moment when I realized my own daughter was very sick and had been for awhile. What our family has endured when it becomes necessary to interact with the current health care system is a horror story. It is this experience that compelled me to write Nature’s Dirty Needle. Her story and the others in this book must be told. Hopefully this will lead to greater awareness of this worldwide issue.”
Mara is currently planning a second book, filled with updates and new personal stories. She believes that if more people tell their tale, they will no longer be denied proper treatment. She can be contacted at marawilliams.net/contact
