The link is either mistakenly bad or purposely deceiving.
I think a hyphen was accidentally left out of the link in the article. Try: https://www.wa-democrats.org/page/2016-democratic-caucuses
Margie, thanks for fixing the link in the article!
@ Barbara Keller – let’s go with mistakenly bad link – because why would it be purposefully deceiving? FYI – you can just do a search by typing Wa State Democratic Party and it will take you right to the link for the website home page. At the top, you’ll see “2016 caucus on the right. Click on that to pre-register and then print out the form, fill out, and sign. Be there between 9:30 and 10 to turn in your form and then you can go about your business if you don’t want to stay. Here’s the link to pre-register and get the downloadable/printable form. You must be a registered voter to pre-register. Start with this link.
https://www.demcaucus.com/register
fill out name and zip, then continue. You will be led to a form with your voting location and ID number on top of the form. Print the form or download to a PDF and email it to a place with a printer. If you use the library, email it to yourself. Open the email and send the PDF attachment to print; it’s two pages. The 2nd pg is mostly blank but you need it. (you can write comments to the Democratic party on all that blank wasted paper)
I hope, at the very least, at the caucus discussions, that there is a motion for a resolution to go back to PRIMARY elections. Primary attendance is 18-19% of voters. Caucuses – at best – 2.9%. Caucuses disenfranchise voters and suppress voter participation. So let’s use this caucus to at least say that, like the Republicans, we want to use the caucus only for debate and discussion – NOT to decide all of our voter-chosen delegates.
They don’t make it easy as I found a couple of weeks ago. I’m also asking all who would like to see a change in the way we vote for the candidate of choice to support a “PROPOSAL” to switch to a PRIMARY that counts! This is the first time we’ve been on island and not in Southwest in 22 years so our vote has never counted. There are many who are infirm, elderly, have no way to get to caucus, just don’t feel like going but still want to vote. Yes, you could have filled out the “Surrogate Affidavit” but would mostly have to fudge a bit. It is an undemocratic way of voting for our candidate of choice. I’ve also tried emailing the 3 heard haunchos of State Democratic Party THREE TIMES and no one has had the courtesy to get back to me.
