OIFFLogo “It’s from a little island, but it’s a big international film festival,” Jared Lovejoy, co-founder of the Orcas Island Film Festival in 2014, said last year.

The Film Festival continues to grow in offerings and reputation. This year there will be “Oscar-buzz titles, arty fare and world class favorites” films shown for maximum viewing pleasure at the Sea View Theatre and at the Orcas Center.

Also, grant awards for the annual short film contest for films inspired by the San Juan Islands and shot mostly in the San Juans have been announced:

Now going three years strong! The Gang that brought off the 1st Orcas Film Festival 2014!

All are invited to the Opening Night Gala of the 3rd Annual Orcas Island Film Festival! Guests can meet and greet visiting artists, directors, writers, producers along with other film buffs. Happy Hour meet and greet starts at 5:30pm at Orcas Center, with hors d’oeuvres served with beverages and music followed by the short film premieres. Watch “Girl Asleep” after the short films at Orcas Center and “Trespass Against Us” at The Seaview Theatre

Tickets for the Gala are $15 at the door (weekend pass holders get into all events free)
