||| FROM MILLIE NOVAK for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
“Two hearts are thrillin’ in spite of the chill in the weather” – come warm your heart with “Winter Wonderland,” one of many familiar carols you will delight to hear in Orcas Choral Society’s holiday concert, Midnight Light, Saturday, December 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at the Orcas Center.
We are privileged to have Artistic Director Bruce Langford lead us in Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s delightful Midnight Mass for Christmas (1694). This French Medieval Christmas theme will transport you in a glow of candlelight to a Baroque concert hall,
filled with the echoes of four centuries of sprightly tunes modulating to mystical pathos.
You will be surrounded by harmonies of an accompanying string and flute ensemble and your spirit lifted by the graceful dancing of choreographer Tiffany Loney and members of the Orcas Dance Collective. The second half of the program brings it closer to home with charming and enchanting new arrangements of familiar carols.
Saturday, come early to catch the Kids’ Chorus and Christian School Choir singing in the Madrona Room at 6 p.m., free, then move to the auditorium for the concert. Bring families and friends of all ages to a performance like no other, one you will remember.
This is a celebration of music that is sure to inspire your holiday spirit of appreciation and wrap you in a cloak of wonder for days to come. Get your tickets at www.orcascenter.org or www.orcaschoralsociety.org. Adult tickets follow Orcas Center’s variable pricing. Tickets for youth 12-18 are $5, and children under 12 attend free. Happy Holidays!
