— from John B. Vezina for WSF —

As you may have noticed, the Yakima is still in service. The Kaleetan, coming out of a maintenance period at Eagle Harbor, has a couple of issues on which we still need to work. It is scheduled to leave Eagle Harbor later this morning for its trip to Anacortes, replacing the Yakima.

We will continue working on Kaleetan on its trip north, but while this work is done, it will be at half power, including when it enters service this afternoon. Our vessel maintenance hopes it will be at full power by tomorrow morning.

Editor’s Note: Council Member Rick Hughes adds, “Late ferry sailings should decrease once the Yakima is replaced.”
