||| FROM WASHINGTON STATE FERRIES |||
If your ferry plans include travel on I-5 through Seattle, prepare for major delays. Beginning this weekend, roadwork for the Revive I-5 project will cause closures and lane reductions.
- 11:59 p.m. Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 21: All northbound lanes of I-5 will be closed from I-90 to Northeast 45th Street.
- July 21 to Aug. 15: Northbound I-5 over the Ship Canal Bridge will be reduced to two lanes, around the clock.
- Night of Aug. 15 to the morning of Aug. 18: Another full northbound weekend closure planned.
The I-5 express lanes will run northbound 24/7 for the duration of this work. While the work is happening in the northbound lanes, southbound I-5 travelers should also expect delays.
If your planned travel to or from a ferry terminal takes you on I-5 through Seattle:
- Allow extra travel time to reach terminals or your final destination
- Plan ahead and check traffic conditions before leaving
- Use alternate routes when possible
- Consider transit or rideshare to avoid delays
- Consider adjusting when you travel
