We are part time residents on Orcas, at our residence on the island every other week or so. The reservation system has worked extremely well for us this year, and we have never had an issue with reservations – just paying a little attention to the scheduling and planning a little ahead of time has been 100% successful for us. We really like the 3 tier release of reservations – if we forget or can’t get to the reservation system first time, there is always another opportunity. Just takes a little planning. I would not advocate for changing the system too much – maybe adding a simpler, one-click reservation capability for those of us with accounts? I’m not sure I understand the arguments about how it’s harder to get get on a ferry on the spur of the moment – in the summer, before the system went into effect, spur of the moment still meant a 5 to 6 hour wait depending on the time, so I don’t see how it’s different today.
Just my thoughts – thanks for allowing us to contribute to this and good luck with getting a system which works for everyone.
