Noelle Benepe and Dyan Holmes, two young Orcas Islanders, (Class of 2007 Orcas Island High School) are organizing the kickoff event for the local Relay for Life Celebration to be held this summer.
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity and much more than a fundraiser for the fight against cancer, says Holmes.
“Relay is an overnight event, a celebration of caregivers and cancer survivorship. We hope to attract many businesses, families, and friends who are strongly committed to the community and to fighting cancer, the nation’s #1 health concern.”

The Kick-off will be held at the Orcas Island School Cafeteria, February 26, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 8 p.m. The actual event will be held at the Orcas Island High School Saturday – Sunday July 10 – 11, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 1 p.m.
