Canoe Island French Camp is looking for a motivated, experienced individual to manage the facilities and grounds of 45-acre private Canoe Island between Shaw and Lopez islands with multiple buildings and infrastructure. This position is an integral part of the Canoe Island team, and applicants need to be outgoing, sociable, and enjoy the company of children. The ideal candidate will possess a varied set of skills, including the following:

  • All aspects of construction including: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanicals. The ability to operate a variety of equipment (tractor, skid loader, etc.) is a plus.
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance including; plumbing, septic systems, electrical, phone/internet tech/electronics, mechanicals, HVAC, fireplaces/chimneys, structures, grounds, hazard tree and limb removal, roads, including waterfront areas and docks.
  • Automotive and boat repair
  • Daily and periodical water system maintenance (Class A water system)
  • Septic systems and septic system monitoring
  • Swimming pool monitoring and maintenance
  • Grounds maintenance and tree work
  • Boating (Master boating license a plus)
  • Janitorial / camp cleanliness
  • Project planning and execution on a timeline.
  • Supervision of maintenance assistant team (summer only)
  • Inventory of facility supplies

This person will be involved with safety planning and implementation throughout camp and serve as a first responder for minor incidents, maintaining First Aid/CPR certification.

Must able to pass a criminal background check and random alcohol/drug testing as a boat, equipment and vehicle operator. Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Must have strong work ethic, be community oriented, and skilled with time management. Canoe Island is a smoke free environment.

This is a full time position, with benefits. Annual salary dependent on experience, starting at $27,500. Housing on Canoe Island potentially available.
