Local Experts Show How to Secure Our Future
||| FROM STEPHANIE PRIMA for SAN JUAN ISLAND GRANGE |||
Islanders from across the county are invited to join a free public panel on Thursday, September 19, 2025 at the San Juan Island Grange Hall. As summers grow hotter and drier, and rainfall becomes more unpredictable, freshwater is increasingly at risk.
This month’s Islands Resilience lecture brings together county and local experts to discuss freshwater ecology, wells, desalination, and rain catchment—timely topics as island water systems face growing challenges.
Panelists will include:
• Tyler Davis — the county’s perspective on freshwater ecology, saltwater intrusion, and upcoming research.
• Sherri Phelps — experience with residential wells, treatment systems, and desalination.
• Marc Lampe — rain catchment and storage systems designed for island conditions.
This is a chance to ask questions, share ideas, and strengthen resilience together.
All are welcome. Free admission. Light snacks provided.
