||| FROM NANCY WANG for ETH-NOH-TEC |||
Nancy Wang of Eth-Noh-Tec will be reading from her new novel Red Altar that follows three generations of her family that sailed from China in 1850 and crashed into Carmel Bay, California as they fought a storm off the California coast.
Rescued by the Rumsen Nation, they realize the opportunity open to them when they see not one fishing boat on the wide Pacific Ocean.
With hard work they start the fishing industry in the Monterey Bay area.
But, soon, Quock Bo and So May begin to face growing prejudice and racist laws. Should they stay? Return to China? But what of their three children? They are Americans!
Join Nancy for a dramatic reading of a few chapters, a Q&A and the chance to buy her book on Wednesday November 5th at 1-2:30 at the Orcas Sr. Center.
