Lisa and Emmy Carter win the Orcas Idol Junior Competition, with their performance of "Connected"

Identical twins Emmy and Lisa Carter bested a fabulous group of 5th- through 8th-graders to be judged the winners at the Orcas Idol Junior competition this afternoon.

Other contestants were Devon Mann and Adia Dolan, singing “Eight Days a Week,” Christian Bailey, singing the theme song from “The Greatest American Hero,” Makayla Hansen singing her own composition, “Spread Your Wings,” (and accompanying herself on guitar), Alicia Susol performing “Goodbyes,” Felicia Gossett singing, “Fallin’,” Lindsay Lancaster singing Abba’s “Honey Honey,” Daria Stankevich singing “Fireflies,” and Gabi Carver singing “Party in the USA.”

Devon Mann, Adia Dolan, Makayla Hansen, Christian Bailey, Alicia Susol, Daria Stankevich, Lindsay Lancaster, Felicia Gossett, Emmy Carter, Lisa Carter, and Gabi Carver all perform in the Orcas Idol Junior Competition. They will appear at the Orcas Idol Finale on Feb. 6.

Emcee John Clancey announced that the judges — Terry Anderson, Grace McCune and Martin Lund, sitting in for Gene Nery — would make their decision based on Showmanship and Technical Ability.

Emmy and Lisa Carter performed “Connected,” a cappella, with true pitch, sweet harmony, and mastering the timing and word patter with polish and style.

The twins will be the featured performers at the Orcas Idol Finale on Feb. 6 at the Orcas Center. The other Idol Junior contestants will also perform together in one number during the Finale.
