||| FROM LYNN BAKER for EMMANUEL EPISCOPAL CHURCH |||
If you shopped at Market Day at Emmanuel Episcopal Church this July, you helped the Pea Patch Project, Food Bank, OPAL, The Exchange, and the Orcas Community Resource Center.
Emmanuel shares proceeds of its annual Market Day rummage sale with other island non-profits. This year, that means checks of $1,260 each to five local causes, for a total of $6,300.
“Market Day is one way we help support our broader community,” said Berto Gandara, Emmanuel’s rector. “We are grateful to the many Orcas residents and visitors who take home treasures from Market Day. And we’re grateful to be able to share income from that sale with other organizations that support our community.”
Emmanuel has held Market Day annually since 1940. Established in 1885, Emmanuel offers use of its facilities to Orcas nonprofits without charge for special events. The balance of Market Day funds help maintain these facilities.
