Paul Moore, owner of Computer Place and interisland.net email provider, has learned of a hoax email being sent to many interisland.net customers.
The email, often arriving marked “high importance” reads as follows:
This is to notify you that we are presently working on our interisland.net email service provider, this maintenance can close your interisland email account completely due to unsolicited mails along with virus attack that is currently going on. Do not say you were not informed on the ongoing upgrading service. Your urgent response is highly needed, to protect your email account from being closed, please forward your USERNAME and PASSWORD to the Upgrading
Service Office via email address: upgradingservice@sify.comNo virus found in this incoming message.
Responding to this message will generate unwanted emails. Moore says there is no “upgrade” being undertaken on the interisland.net server and advises users to delete this message .
