EVERYONE is invited to the OPALCO Electric Vehicle (EV) Jamboree at Lopez Village Park to celebrate and explore electric vehicles of all types. There will be new EVs to test drive, electric bikes, electric tools to try out and lots of information to share!

Members with their own EVs are encouraged to bring them for show and tell – VIP parking and special swag for EV drivers. OPALCO staff will have free hot dogs (and veggie dogs) on the BBQ and fun activities for the whole family! The event is FREE and will be open from 3 – 5 p.m.

Members from other islands can make arrangements to rent an eBike, have it dropped off at the ferry and come to the event carbon free. Call ahead to Village Cycles to reserve and pay for yours. Village Cycles will be at the event to demo eBikes that are perfect for commuting around the islands. Sunset Builders, a new Stihl distributor, will be on hand to demonstrate electric tools for the home and garden.

There will be activities for everyone in the family including safety demonstrations, a giant earth ball, activities for the littles, and very cool free swag. The EV Action Table will have Councilperson Jane Fuller, EarthRise and Island Rides talking about EVs in San Juan County. The Lopez Community Land Trust will be on hand to talk about their EV car share program. Mainland car dealers will be bringing the latest in electric cars for people to explore. Come on down for some electric fun.

OPALCO will also be at the Rotary Classic Car Show on August 13 th at the San Juan Vineyard on San Juan  Island from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Shine up your EV to hob nob with the old classics – and compete for top prizes in the EV category.
