The Orcas Island Education Foundation is launching a new fundraising campaign: the ONE ARM TIED BEHIND YOUR BACK challenge.
The WA state constitution says: “It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders, without distinction or preference on account of race, color, caste, or sex.” And in 2012, the State Supreme Count in the McCleary decision ruled that: …”the state legislature has failed to fulfill its paramount duty to “make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders…”
Public Education is under-funded in Washington State. Our schools are not failing, but they are tasked to educate children with one-arm tied behind their backs.
For over 30 years, the Orcas Island Education Foundation (OIEF) has been providing support to our public schools to make up for the failure of our state legislature. We hope you will help make a difference. Again. And that’s where this summer’s ONE ARM TIED BEHIND YOU BACK challenge comes in.
What is it, and how can you help?
Take a video of yourself doing something with one arm tied behind your back. Anything. Just like our schools, you don’t have to fail – but whatever it is should be a little more difficult.
In the video, challenge friends to make a video of his/herself with one arm tied behind their back. Share your video on Facebook and tag your friends. You can also upload it to our YouTube Channel.
We want you to join in the fun by making a video, but more importantly we hope you will make a contribution to OIEF. Please go to OIEF.ORG to make a donation, and to find out how your gift will impact our public schools. You can also send a check to OIEF | POB 782 | Eastsound | WA| 98245.
ANY amount is meaningful. It will make a world of difference at our public schools.

I fully support the efforts of the Orcas Island Education Foundation! Look for my challenge video coming soon. OIEF does so much for our public schools…. and full disclosure, my wife (Janet) is very involved with OIEF.
