Orcas Island voters are reminded to turn in their ballots, either at the ballot box at the Senior Center county building in Eastsound, or through the mail, postmarked Nov. 3 at the latest.

As County Council member Richard Fralick has said on numerous occasion, the quality of our lifestyle on Orcas is at stake. Will we support the services provided by the Senior Center, Washington State University Extension programs, public health services (including immunization clinics), Oil Spill Association Emergency response, and County Parks? Will we restore positions in the sheriff’s, prosecutor’s and Emergency Management departments and keep county offices open for business on a regular schedule?

We will if we vote yes on County of San Juan Levy Proposition #1.

Will we form a Park and Recreation District for Orcas Island that continues the programs, classes and games of Orcas Rec? Will we create a local board to carry the Orcas Rec program forward to build upon the program’s strengths?

We will if we vote yes on Formation of  Orcas Island Park and Recreation District Proposition #1.

We urge Orcas Islanders to vote accordingly, but most important, value your vote and turn in your ballots.
