Yes, I protest

Here I am in Port Townsend, two ferry rides off Orcas Island, joining a line of resisters to the new administration. I held hands with a homeless man and a Vietnam veteran, on my way to look after my grandsons so my daughter-in-law could march in Washington, D.C. with her mother.
My friends all over the world — many of whom I haven’t met yet, and many of whom have significant differences from me — are marching to express their voices in the opposition to the morals and actions of the new national administration and congress.
They’re expressing their power, their fear and their outrage. Long may it continue so that our honor and pride may be restored.

I’m so happy to hear about the Port Townsend. For me I was thrilled to see terrific turnout at Friday Harbor. A ferry boat load of women’s marchers join together from Lopez Shaw and Orcas joined the Friday Harbor people. We made our way to the school where we were joined by even more people and a panoply of speakers, poets, musicians and our own Sharon Abreu spoke movingly about our planet, our friends and neighbors living in the San Juans, and about the need to act and keep the movement going. Cooperation, love, action!!
I walked tith women, men and children in Jackson WY Where I spend the winter. Wonderful experience and I am proud to be a woman!
We were wondering what the percentage of population was in Eastsound.
I joined a group of women and some other men from San Juan, Lopez, and our own Island on the early ferry yesterday to join the march in Seattle. We filled a chartered 57-passenger bus in Anacortes and marched up 4th Avenue from the International District to Seattle Center.
I’m a Vietnam-era veteran and many who noticed my veteran’s hat thanked me.
I was there to support women in the face of the President’s appalling attitude, and because of the certainty of manmade climate change and my alarm at our President’s ties with Russia (my service has been all the Soviet threat).
Truly an inspiring event, the crowd exceeded by far any crowd I’ve seen Seahawks games. Really glad I went.
The need is not so much a high percent right now, but how we keep up the vigilance for the next years. We are in this solidarity for some time. Our nation cannot support the fifty fifty split that eats away at our strengths and attention to the issues of crisis.
