||| FROM PARKER PAVITT for SAN JUAN ISLANDS MAKERS GUILD |||

Orcas loves a parade and we are excited to host Earth Day Celebrations April 19-20 in Eastsound. The Procession of the Species parade on Earth Day is hosting two free workshops at the Funhouse.

Come make props or a headdress at the sessions. Workshops are Saturday, April 6th and 13th, 1-4pm for great group makery fun!

Island Makers have been getting training from other Washington Procession of the Species Parades  and we are going to do it Island Style.

What animal or plant do you want to be? Combine an existing costume you love with some new flair -a 3-D head dress, hat, papier mache animal – or start fresh and create a new painted figure suspended from bamboo poles, decorated umbrella, or a companion plant or creature prop that you want to carry – or wear.

Basic materials kit is free to create an easy headdress or creature to carry on a pole. Options for more complex materials and ready-made costumes and components by donation.

Salmon, eagles, orca, heron, ravens, flowers, butterflies? Your design plans welcome and we help with materials and construction.

Come play!
