Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Community Church

— by Sue Lewis —

Dottie Cornelius is a local gal. She is a breast cancer survivor who donates a lot of her time to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which is one of the world’s largest organizations helping with education, support, and research.

She is an ardent participant in the Komen 3-Day walks. These walks stretch for 60 miles, and Dottie has participated in 9 of them. She will bring a video of herself with team Island Girls and with five-foot banner covered with signatures of breast cancer survivors to the next meeting of the cancer survivors support group. She will tell us about what the Foundation does, the progress they have made and clarify any misconceptions.

There will also be an opportunity for everyone to share. This is a monthly, no cost, confidential support group for anyone touched by cancer whether personally, as a family member, friend, caregiver or in any other capacity. If you, or anyone you know, is dealing with issues related to cancer, please come and join the conversation.

Finding out how others manage the special problems that cancer brings might help you find ways to cope with the problems that come along for you. Let’s support each other by finding courage for the journey, joy in the healing, and hope for the future.

Join us at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at the Community Church. Call Bogdan or Carol at 760-212-8556 for more information.
