From Brendan Cowan, Department of Emergency Management

As temperatures rise and the islands start to thaw out, there are numerous reports trickling in, so to speak, of frozen and burst water pipes. Islanders are encouraged to keep an eye on both their residences and those in their neighborhood that are known to be empty. Unattended burst pipes can quickly overwhelm a water system. The Eastsound Water Users Association has put together a great guide to both preventing and responding  to frozen pipes.
