Scholastic Book Fair sponsored by the Orcas PTSA, from 10:00 a.m.-3 p.m. in the School Library. All book sales support the school.

Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Christmas Tree Lighting with the Community Band, Christmas Carols and Santa and Mrs. Claus. From 4 to 5 p.m. Shop the Rock with Eastsound stores open until 7 p.m.

Ladies Night at Orcas Island ACE Hardware —  come for a night of shopping fun with a little gambling intrigue 5:30 to 8:30  p.m. Refreshments and discounts available upon arrival.  And don’t forget, Ladies only! 376-3833.

Doe Bay Café hosts T:FLO with covers that range from the 50’s, to now with songs from Neil Diamond to Ben Harper, from soul to rock and pop to disco and everything fun in between during dinner service at 7 p.m.

“In Search of Mozart ” Screening at Emmanuel Episcopal Church — major feature length documentary about the composer’s life. Hailed by Mozartian scholars as the definitive film for Mozart Year 2006, it is a creation that will serve as one of our best multi-media references for years to come. Saturday, December 5

Santa’s Ship  stops at  the Bellport Deer Harbor Marina at 10 a.m.  and will be driven to the Deer Harbor Community Club where the festivities will continue with Santa distributing gifts to children 12 and under until noon.  Refreshments will be provided at the Community Club by the Women’s Auxiliary. Darvill’s 20th Annual Holiday Party 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Everything in the store discounted by 15% with complimentary gift wrapping. Cookies and cider served all day with nibbles and beverages from 4 to 8 p.m..

20th Annual Holiday Festival for Artisans at the Odd Fellows Hall.From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also Sunday, December 6, 11 am – 4 .m. Wonderful handcrafted gifts and yummy food items for everyone on your list.  Great food will be served out of the kitchen with sushi on Saturdays and pizza, soup and desserts on Sunday.  Continuing the tradition, every purchase gets a ticket for our raffle.  Several gift baskets will be given away to winners at the close of the fair. The Friends of the Library’s annual Holiday Tea from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Orcas Island Public Library,  with tea and delicacies served by the Key Club and music provided by local musicians.

PTSA-sponsored movie –“Elf” in the school cafeteria on Sunday, Dec. 6th, starting at 3 p.m.  The movie and popcorn are free–all are welcome!

Holiday Light Parade in Eastsound from 4 to 6 p.m. down North Beach Road,  Orcas Island Historical Museum  Free Visit with Kay and Jim Claus, relaxing at home in the Boede Cabin. The Clauses will have homemade cookies, warm cider and much holiday cheer to dispense

Sunday, Dec. 6

Episcopal Bishop Craig Anderson will give a talk about his experiences while serving as Bishop to the Diocese of South Dakota 11 a.m. at the West Sound Community Club. Sponsored by the Orcas Island Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UUF).

David Perez and Jen G of The Pincushion Orchestra will teach the workshop “Performance Poetry” from 2 to 4 p.m. in the yoga studio at Doe Bay Resort. This workshop  is for all ages and all levels of experience are welcome. Tuition is  free (donations accepted) for all who’d like to learn more about  reading creative work aloud.
