The Doe Bay Music Festival, scheduled to begin on Aug. 14, earned top regional props in its inaugural year. Music website Sound on the Sound reported: “Seattle summers are increasingly filled with great musical festivals/events, so congrats to the newest kid on the Block for beating the big guys on local line-ups. Best local line up of the summer? … It’s the 2nd Annual Doe Bay Music Festival.”
The Festival, which begins on Aug. 14, features a diverse sampling of music from the region and beyond including The Long Winters, David Bazan, The Maldives, The Moondoggies, Weinland, Slender Means, Hey Marseilles, The Lonely Forest, Friday Mile, Drew Grow and the Pastors’ Wives, Goldfinch, Spanish for 100, 17th Chapter, Tito Ramsey and more to be announced soon.
At Doe Bay, festival-goers enjoy the music on thirty acres of waterfront property; either camping or staying in one of the resort’s cabins or yurts, if they’re not day-tripping.
“They’ll likely gather around a rousing bonfire or stroll along the moonlit beach long after the final band has left the stage,” festival organizers say.
Doe Bay owner Joe Brotherton described last year’s Doe Bay Festival — with 300 attendees — as a test run of sorts to gauge the possibility of holding the event yearly.
He said, “Last year I took [some] advice to heart and under-promised and over-delivered. The First Doe Bay Fest was a great success. This year is scaring me in that word of mouth has gone crazy. ”
Brotherton has decided to expand the Doe Bay Music Festival’s ticket allotment to 750.
Tickets are currently on sale at Brown Paper Tickets (www.brownpapertickets.com), and accommodation information is available via Doe Bay (360 376-2291, www.doebay.com). Camping spots are still available at $35.00 per night.
