The San Juan County Marine Resource Committee (MRC) will hear a presentation from Terry Whalen of A1 Marine at its regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Islanders Bank in Friday Harbor.

Subcommittee and NW Straits Commission reports will be heard before Whalen’s talk. MRC member Mike Kaill will give an update on the  state rockfish meeting,  Kit Rawson will report on the Marine Managers Workshop, Jonathan White will present the MRC projects (best & most challenging) to highlight at NW Straits Initiative retreat and Mary Knackstedt will discuss the monitoring coordinator position & project proposals.

Following those presentations, Whalen will address the MRC ahbout the  Derelict Vessels Program in the San Juans.

The MRC will then discuss its recommendations for managing derelict vessels. Citizen Input will follow.

All members of the public are welcome to attend MRC meetingst on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the Islanders Bank in Friday Harbor.

In 2010, the MRC  plans to meet a few times on other Islands and will provide advance notification for those meetings.
