captureThe formwork must remain in place until the wing wall concrete achieves sufficient strength.

Tentatively, we expect late night work during low tides during the following week – beginning Nov. 28th – for channel rock placement.

We are still working on details for trucking the girders from Tacoma, possibly beginning no sooner than Dec 12th and extending over a seven weekdays.

The pedestrian bridge will be open and we anticipate the temporary detour bridge to be closed for 20 minutes to possibly one hour.

Similar activities will continue at the east and west abutments, including forming the wing walls, installing rebar in the wing walls, shoring/bracing the wing walls, and placing concrete.

Engineers anticipate advantageous work conditions due to low tides during the week of November 28. Crews may work a couple of nights that week. Motorists are reminded to obey the 8mph posted maximum speed on the bridge. Look for more definite information in next week’s newsletter regarding night work.

We will provide more information later as work progresses and the schedule is firmed up.
