SEATTLE — If you’ve had trouble accessing the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) website for traffic updates or to track state ferries in real-time this week, you’re not alone.
The department’s mobile app and website have been down or experiencing outages since Tuesday. The WSDOT confirmed Thursday the outages were caused by a “cyber security incident that appeared aimed at interrupting the flow of travel-related information on the agency’s public websites.”
Several webpages remained out of service Thursday morning, including the department’s real-time travel map, portions of the WSDOT mobile app, the Washington State Ferries (WSF) vessel watch and online freight permits.
The department said it doesn’t appear any additional systems were affected, nor was any personal information accessed.
