— from Anne L. Presson for Orcas Island Health Care District —
Orcas Island Health Care District is now cancelling an upcoming meeting.

Is this an open-ended cancellation?
The Orcas healthcare commission has been collecting information bearing on our choices for restructuring our *unsustainable* Orcas healthcare system. This situation requires attention even though y’all might want calmer sailing: it ain’t gonna happen.
This was going on well before the present healthcare crisis and it is not going to get easier: we have a plan and honestly,
A PROGRESS REPORT IS PAST DUE.
I would also like to present the case that NOW is the best time!
1. you have the info
2. you must discuss it transparently and without contingency
3. we-all must get up to speed to participate in decisionmaking
But/and..
4. Rural healthcare must in the future be provided more remotely
5. electronic meetings are easy, and more acceptable/necessary
6. (and I really want to emphasise this:) AT THIS PRECISE MOMENT-
..the coronavirus epidemic gives us all a common vocabulary to articulate our healthcare interests for creating a new system which uniquely addresses OUR needs here.
“This. Is. A. Test.”
I want to call on the Public Healthcare District:
DO NOT DAWDLE. “carpe diem!”
The difficulties of the moment are the tools of the future.
Lord knows we have the time and focus, right now.
Thank you.
