— from San Juan County Communications —
Over the next two months, San Juan County Health & Community Services is undertaking a process to update its Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan (HSTP) originally created in 2010 and then updated in 2014.
The HSTP was developed to address the transportation needs of the elderly, people with disabilities, and low income populations in accordance with the criteria of the Washington State Department of Transportation. Following the creation of this plan, San Juan County has coordinated and developed innovative community transportation programs to meet the needs of our geographically isolated rural County, the most successful of which has been the Transportation Voucher Program.
One component of updating the plan is gathering community input. There are two ways to participate and provide your input and experience with specialized transportation in San Juan County. The first way is to take our community survey by clicking the following link: https://tinyurl.com/HSTPsurvey.
The second way you can participate is by attending a community outreach meeting which have been scheduled on each island. The meeting dates are:
- Tuesday November 13- San Juan Island, Key Bank Meeting Room, 12:30 – 2 p.m.
- Wednesday November 14- Orcas Island, Orcas Island Senior Center Lundeen Room, 2:30 – 4 p.m.
- Thursday November 15- Lopez Island, Lopez Family Resource Center Conference Room, 1:30 – 3 p.m.
If you have any questions about how to participate in the Human Services Transportation Plan update, please email Ryan Page at ryanp@sanjuanco.com or call 360-370-0590.
