Jason Hensel, County Building Inspector, holds regular office hours on Wednesdays to help with building projects
County Building Inspector Jason Hensel now occupies an office in the Orcas County Building (shared with Orcas Senior Center) in order to facilitate the permitting process for Orcas residents. Hensel shares the office with County Councilman Rick Hughes; Hensel will be at the Orcas office on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As part of the County efforts to localize services on a consistent basis, Hensel will also hold office hours on Shaw and Lopez Islands, as well as at the main permitting office in Friday Harbor. Transactions that involve money will still take place at the Friday Harbor offices, but Hensel is available in person to address landowner, realtor and contractor questions regarding their building plans, inspection schedules, and/or compliance with regulations.
“We’re not primarily about regulations, but about keeping people safe,” says Hensel. There are ample supplies of county information in pamphlets outside his office. For a list of types of permits and further information, go to: sanjuanco.com/Permits-Forms-Information
