County Manager Mike Thomas recently announced that he is stepping down from his position after 10 years with San Juan County.  He has worked in local government in Washington State for over 33 years.

During his career, Mike has held positions that cover a wide span of disciplines including planning, policy, budget, and finance. He has served as a city administrator and county manager.

“Through good times and some really tough ones including the Pandemic, we were fortunate to have someone of Mike’s ability work tirelessly on our behalf,” said Councilmember Christine Minney.

“I am pleased with all that has been accomplished over the years,” said Thomas who has been with the organization since 2013. “The County has good staff who work hard for the residents and the organization is positioned well for the next decade.”

Thomas will remain with the County through February and aid in the search for a new manager.   Recruitment for a new manager is already underway.
