From Bea vonTobel, Port Manager

The commissioners and staff of the Port of Orcas invite the public to visit a new web address: https://www.sjcgis.org/POA/default.aspx

This new website was produced by SJC Public Works GIS staff, with particular thanks to Greg Sutherland, and will also be available as a link from the port’s own website:   www.portoforcas.com

As you navigate through the various choices, you will be able to see the airport and surrounding land by applying various layers, starting with bare earth and physical characteristics to drainage, land use, zoning, parcels, the airport district overlay and more.

Through the use of zoom and pan, you can move about through the area, highlighting various aspects, and printing what you might wish to save.

Detailed instructions on how to use the free downloadable software to tailor maps to your specifications are available at: https://www.sanjuanco.com/GIS/gislib.aspx and
https://www.sanjuanco.com/publicworks/maps.aspx

The commissioners have also had paper maps and mylar (clear plastic) overlays created for use by the port and the public for use in future planning.  These are available for viewing in the port conference room during normal business hours.
