Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brickworks in Friday Harbor
from Victoria Comption, San Juan County Economic Development Council
The San Juan County Economic Development Council will present a first-ever event in San Juan County: the 2013 Economic Development Summit, which will explore the county’s economy as it is now, and as our community would like to see it in the future. The summit will be held on November 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brickworks in Friday Harbor.
San Juan County has a vibrant economy composed of many diverse industries. Small manufacturers, construction, tourism, cottage industries, professional services, work-from-home consulting, agriculture, and dozens of other industries are included in each annual gross sales data report from the Washington State Department of Revenue.
What are the industries which are doing well in our community? Which industries are likely to grow? What are easily achievable actions we can implement in order to spur the growth of high quality-of-life employment?
The 2013 Economic Development Summit will bring together community and industry leaders for a frank conversation on improving the economy of San Juan County, including brainstorming specific, immediately-achievable goals, projects and tasks.
Included in the conversation will be segments on: An Economic Snapshot of San Juan County & Asset Mapping; Our Ports’ Role in Community Economic Development; and a brainstorming session, Imagining & Activating the Ideal San Juan County Economy.
This free event is open to the public, and will be held on Wednesday November 13 from 8:30a-2p at Brickworks in Friday Harbor. More information is available on the EDC’s website: https://www.sanjuansedc.org/economic-development-summit/
