||| FROM SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS |||

San Juan County announces the beginning of annual stormwater infrastructure maintenance on Orcas and Lopez Islands.

The regular maintenance is conducted before the first flush of the season – the initial surface runoff of a rainstorm — to reduce accumulated contaminants and debris so that drain capacity is prepared for the upcoming winter storms. This process also helps improve water quality and reduce pollutants from entering the Salish Sea.

Stormwater Infrastructure

Maintenance Schedule:

  • September 19:  Lopez Village and the ferry landing on Lopez Island
  • September 20-22: Eastsound, Olga, Deer Harbor, and the ferry landing on Orcas Island. During this time, there will be limited parking in Eastsound.
