— from Jacob Heinen for San Juan County Public Works —

CRP 020701 has begun! The intersection of Enchanted Forest and West Beach was closed on the morning of September 3 and will remain closed throughout construction.

The week began by installing the creek diversion system, which includes upstream and downstream check dams, silt fence, and a bypass pump to dewater the project area.

Excavators were brought to site Wednesday morning to begin removing the existing roadway embankment. Excavation will continue throughout next week.

The contractor is working hard to protect and preserve the old growth cedar trees. The smaller felled trees have been stockpiled on-site to be reused as habitat features within West Beach Creek.

We’d like to thank the West Beach and Crow Valley communities for their patience with this project.
