Thoughts for Public Works engineers and employees:
If you close this intersection for the entire week, How are people supposed to access the food bank if they can’t get into town from the North? You need cars to haul heavy bags of food. many families depend on the food bank.
We have been blessed with rains to keep the dust level down. What is Public Works’s plan for keeping the dust down when it dries up and there are dry winds swirling dust everywhere? The dust is terrible for those of us with allergies, asthma, and other respiratory problems. Please let us know what you plan to do to minimize harm.
It must be very hard to keep the intersections of School Rd/ Main street from being deeply potholed and a terrible surface on which to drive. What are your plans to keep this road driveable? What can be done about this if Public works is down to a 4 day work week? Who will keep the surface of the intersection drivable and not so dusty and dirty if PW has 3 days where no one is monitoring the project?
Requests for drivers who use the torn-up roads and intersections in the Prune Alley road project :
If you own a big monster trucks or SUV, or if you love to speed and peal-out on gravel, please consider not doing that at this intersection. You are not the only ones who have to use this road. Please consider that if you tear up the road, it can cause someone else to have to maneuver a road filled with foot wide or more potholes which can damage the undercarriage and shocks of smaller cars, or cause us to have to replace a windshield or fix dents that didn’t need to happen. Please slow down. That intersection gets the most traffic of any 4 way intersection on Orcas. Please let’s all respect each other and try to get through the next 3 months or so of Prune Alley Road Project Purgatory. Thank you..
