— from Stephanie Conner for San Juan County Public Works —

Construction at the Orcas Landing Marine Facility has an official start date. The contractor, Mike Carlson Enterprises (MCE), begins work on October 26.

Construction related activities should be anticipated all week as MCE’s crew mobilizes equipment and sets up their staging/landing area.

Mobilization will be followed by potholing for utilities on Orcas Road after which we will know more about the status of the utilities in the vicinity, and construction activities should pick up in pace.

Due to construction, there is no parking at Orcas Landing for the remainder of the project.  Pedestrian access to the pier will remain open via the stairs from the deck to the lower driveway.
