Dear Orcas Islanders and Property Owners,

In June of 2023, a group of concerned citizens and property owners on Orcas began organizing to combat the proposed Orcas Fire and Rescue Levy, which was initially set at an all-encompassing 1.06/1000 of assessed property value. One goal was to bring the price point down significantly for a more affordable ‘operations only’ levy. After 10 months of effort, including a Town Hall Q&A session with the Board of Fire Commissioners and Chief, we are now ready for the Island to vote YES by April 23, 2024 for a 5-year Orcas Fire and Rescue Operations levy at .77/1000, a .29 cent reduction from the original offering.

You may have seen our signs while driving around the island, urging you to vote YES on the levy. These signs are part of our efforts to spread awareness. In our final push to get out the vote, we are seeking contributions through a GoFundMe opportunity to help offset the costs of the signs and other materials used in our campaign. We paid for these expenses upfront and any support from Orcas Islanders and property owners would be greatly appreciated.

We received no financial support from Orcas Fire and Rescue and remain an independent group of concerned citizens. Please consider contributing to our GoFundMe campaign to help show your appreciation for our efforts in advocating for a more affordable Operations Levy. Any amount, up to $100, is greatly appreciated and will help us continue working towards a better future for Orcas.

Thank you in advance for your support and participation.
