Community Rights San Juan Islands is hosting two Conversation Cafes
Thursday, March 4th 5:30 – 7:00 pm (Rescheduled Cafe from Feb 25)
Thursday, March 11th 5:30 – 7:00 pm
March 4th Cafe – County Bill of Rights
- Do county residents need a stronger voice in how we address climate change and the further degradation of all the beautiful wildness that surrounds us?
- Could a Bill of Rights that includes Rights of Nature language in the Home Rule Charter be a way for us to state our values, protect ourselves, and protect the natural world around us in the face of these threats?
If this sounds interesting, please come and partner with us to discuss the merits of developing such a Bill of Rights. Please note this Cafe has been rescheduled from Feb 25 to March 4.
Before the zoom, please look at these voter-supported charters which include a Bill of Rights with Rights of Nature language:
March 11th Cafe – Comprehensive Plan
- How can we best advocate for Rights of Nature inspired language in the comprehensive plan?
- What suggestions can we offer to the comprehensive plan process to reflect our values and protections for the natural world?
Please join us on March 11 to discuss the comprehensive plan and how we as citizens can make sure the plan reflects our values.
Both meetings will use the same zoom meeting link:
