From the San Juan County Department of Emergency Management
San Juan Island Grange and the Department of Emergency Management present a Community Preparedness Forum on Thursday March 29, from 5 – 6:30 pm at the Friday Harbor Grange (152 N. 1st St.) on San Juan Island.
Local leaders will talk about what the chances of disaster are and how individuals and neighborhoods should prepare. Grange members will display their preparedness kits and discuss what steps they took to become self sufficient. Lots of opportunity to ask questions and to have informal discussions with folks who can help you take the first step.
Everyone in the islands should be able to be on their own for at least a week in the event of a major earthquake or other disaster, and this is a great place to start.
Light refreshments served or bring your own dinner.

At this time of evening – no one from orcas or shaw can attend as there are no ferrys for a return trip. Would be great to have this availale to all county residents.
Hi Marta- totally agreed. This event is co-sponsored by San Juan Island Grange- so timing is what worked best for them and their goals. Very willing to team up with organizations on all islands to put on similar events in the future.

I agree with Marta.
We agree. Can we get this program presented on Orcas? We are very interested, and were active with an emerg. prep. group in our area in the early 1990’s before we moved here
I would like to echo the wish to see this presented for Orcas residents. Thanks.
