Girls with Ukes 2015

You’re invited to the second-ever performance of Orcas’ very own “Girls with Ukes” choir. The group, co-lead by Anita Orne and Mandy Troxel, includes 4th through 8th grade girls from the public school, Christian School, Salmonberry, home school, and Spring Street schools.  The program will be about an hour long and include some vocal acrobatics, tidbits of history and drama via song introduction. The girls will sing and play a variety of favorite tunes made famous by folks like Johnny Cash, the Andrews sisters, and Peter, Paul and Mary. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. Bill Patterson will be offering up his fine rustic Italian cuisine.

Those who attended last fall’s debut concert will remember it as a truly amazing show of community fun and support (and, reservations are a must if you’d like a seat! Call 376-1111 to make your reservation). There is no cover charge, but donations to the tip jars will cover choir costs.

Special thanks to the Random Howse and Casa Casuale for hosting this performance, and to Salmonberry School for generously allowing the use of their space for choir practice.
