||| FROM HILARY CANTY for COMMUNITY LUNCH |||

The Community Lunch will be celebrating a year of shared meals on Tuesday January 20th. Every Tuesday for the past year, a home cooked meal has been provided to the community from 12-1:30 downstairs in the Community Church.

Thanks to the many volunteers who cook, bake, serve, and clean each week to make this possible; to the donors who help fund the meals; to the Community Church for providing the space and coffee; to Orcas Bakery for providing
delicious bread every week; to Island Market for providing a generous discount on ingredient; and to the Community Resource Center for providing operational support.

We average about 100 guests each week, so that is about 5000 meals served this past year- a spectacular effort! Each meal includes options, so folks can be sure there is something that they can eat. Everyone is welcome to attend and we see a wide range of community members participating, from retired folks and worker bees, families, and solo diners. People who need the food and others who seek community. The result is a jolly weekly event that helps us all feel more connected and cared for.
