||| FROM HILARY CANTY for ORCAS COMMUNITY CHURCH |||

Each week there is a free Community Lunch provided from 12-1:30 downstairs in the Community Church. This is a program of the Community Resource Center and is a great community building effort. 5-10 volunteers cook a fine spread, always a full range of main dishes including vegan options and meats, salads, desserts, and other yummy treats. We typically serve 100-125 community members. The room is always lively and it has been great to watch folks meet and enjoy a meal together.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making the Community Lunch such a success. To the Community Church for providing the space, Orcas Bakery for a weekly supply of delicious bread, Con’s Pit Stop for weekly donations, Island Market for providing a discount for ingredients, Clever Cow for ice cream, and the many donors who contribute food and funds to
keep us rolling.

Other groups are always welcome to get involved, as it is truly a fun team building experience. The Stitch and Gossip group has provided a meal twice- so good! As has a local family. On November 25th, the Dementia Friendly Community Folks will be co-hosting a Friendsgiving for the lunch. Everyone is welcome, as always.

If you are interested in learning more, volunteering, or contributing, please contact Communitylunch@orcascrc.org, or just come to lunch! We’d love to have you!
