The Orcas Island community is invited to attend a panel discussion titled “Building Better Community Care – Together” on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Orcas Island Public Library.

This important community event, hosted by the Orcas Community Resource Center, will feature representatives from key island health and service organizations sharing insights from a summer-long collaborative process focused on identifying and addressing unmet healthcare needs on Orcas Island.

The panel will include representatives from San Juan County Senior Services, Orcas Community Resource Center, Orcas Island Health Care District, Orcas Fire & Rescue, and Island Primary Care – Orcas. These organizations formed a stakeholder workgroup this summer, convened by the Orcas Island Health Care District, to improve care coordination and strengthen community health systems both on and off the island.

“This conversation is an important opportunity to share with the community the progress made this summer, and how we can continue working together to ensure islanders have the care and resources they need,” said Erin O’Dell, Executive Director of the Orcas Community Resource Center.

This free event offers residents a unique opportunity to hear directly from healthcare leaders about their collaborative efforts and areas of potential work in the Orcas Island community.
