The Orcas Island Community Foundation has set dates for two best practice workshops.
The first is ‘Creating Meaningful Financial Reports’, offered by Kathy Wehle, a CPA and Financial Consultant who now lives in Seattle and on Orcas Island. The goal of this workshop is to give attendees a better understanding of the minimum financial records needed for their organization and some new ideas on Financial Reporting for their Boards.
This workshop will be held on Friday, Feb 26th from 9-11 at the Eastsound Fire Hall. There is a $15 fee for the 1st participant from any one nonprofit, additional participants are $10 each.
Call OICF at 376-6423 to reserve your seat.
Kathy Wehle earned her CPA in California, focusing her early professional career on audits of small to mid-sized not-for-profit organizations. The Pacific Northwest lured her from California in 1996 when she moved to Orcas to first serve as Finance Director for Four Winds Camp, one of the nation’s premier children’s summer camps.
She followed that with a 5-year stint at Flying House Productions in Seattle, taking a leadership role in strengthening the long term future of the Choruses and their service to the community. Having previously served as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Orcas Theater and Community Center and Treasurer for the Orcas Island Community Foundation, Ms. Wehle currently is Chair of the Audit Committee on the Board of Directors of the Kaiser Family Foundation.
The Community Foundation will hold a second workshop later this spring, the ” ever popular” Board Boot Camp, presented by Kate Janeway, on May 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Location TBD. Cost for this class is $25 per participant, with lunch provided.
