Common Market by Mariangelo Abeo

Returning after their first Orcas appearance in 2009, the popular hiphop duo Common Market will play an all-ages concert at Orcas Center this Saturday, January 30. All tickets are $12.

Common Market is DJ Producer Sabzi and RA Scion, each a well-known figure in the Seattle hiphop scene. Their paths crossed through the Baha’i faith and their political and spiritual approach to hiphop music. After collaborating on a couple tracks on RA Scion’s 2004 solo project, Live and Learn, the duo began working together. The result was a 14-track release in October 2005 which one radio station (KRS-One), praised the album for “spitting in the Tradition of the conscious Hiphop movement.”

All tickets are $12. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.orcascenter.org or call or 360/376-2281 ext 1. The Orcas Center Box Office hours are Thursday-Saturday, noon – 4 pm.

There are a few volunteer slots for those interested in ushering, selling concessions or stage managing during the Common Market show. For more information about volunteering, please contact the box office.
