||| FROM RACHEL LAMBERT for ISLAND HEALTH |||

We are eagerly working to arrange telehealth access to cardiology services with Joshua Schilling, MD, through Western Washington Medical Group. These video visits will be conducted at the IPC – Orcas clinic.

What to expect:

  • The patient will arrive at our office and be brought to an exam room arranged for a video visit.
  • Our Medical Assistants will take vitals and help the patient get connected with Dr. Schilling on screen.
  • An ECG will be performed in the clinic, if needed, and our care team will help facilitate any additional needs with the physician. We will also be testing new equipment such as a digital stethoscope, which can be used during the visit to transmit real-time data to the cardiologist.

Western Washington Medical Group is also partnering with Island Health to bring Pulmonology services to Anacortes. We are pleased to expand access to these specialties, and we will continue to explore what else can be offered in the future.

Rachael Cleghorn is Anacortes Bound
After nearly two years of practicing at Island Primary Care – Orcas, Rachael Cleghorn, PA-C, has decided to transition to Anacortes where she will work at Island Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine and in the Walk-in Clinic. We realize that transitioning your medical provider is never ideal, and we are committed to ensuring the continuity of your care.

Your care will be transitioned to Dr. Simpson-Manske, Karen Caley Orr, PA-C, or Jennifer Utter, PA-C. When you are ready to schedule an appointment with a new provider, please call 360.376.2561. Our team is here to help you with your healthcare needs.

Calling and Texting the Clinic: What to Expect
Island Primary Care – Orcas is your trusted neighborhood clinic for adult and pediatric services. Because we are a part of the Island Health system, when you call with a question for your provider or nurse, your call gets routed to our clinic from our centralized call center. The routing process is
the same if you were calling the clinic directly: All messages are evaluated, elevated if necessary, and routed to the appropriate person to call you back. If you are having a life-threatening event, such as heart attack or stroke, please call 911.

Did you know we now offer text messaging for appointments? Patients can now text 360.376.2561 to let the clinic know if you are running late; need to reschedule; or have a question about your visit. This texting service is not meant for any clinical questions. We are excited to have this new program to enhance our patient’s experience and satisfaction.

Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute
School will be back in session before you know it! Don’t wait until the last minute to get your child’s vaccinations up to date. Sports often start in August—don’t forget your child’s sports physical. Call the office to schedule your child’s appointment.

Family Medicine Physician Resident
Island Primary Care – Orcas is excited to have a Family Medicine physician resident on Orcas being trained by Dr. Wilson. Jordan Hinton, DO, is in the St. Michael’s Family Medicine Residency program (part of the Franciscan/Virginia Mason group of hospitals) on the Kitsap Peninsula. Her residency completion date is June 2024. Dr. Hinton is enjoying her experience with Dr. Wilson at our clinic. She is married with two young children and has a big love for horses. We are delighted to be part of this physician training program in Family Medicine.

Prescription Refills
If you’re in need of a prescription refill, please contact your pharmacy first. They will reach out to your provider directly to get your refill started. This is the fastest way to fulfill your request. Please allow 48-72 hours for the clinic and the pharmacy to complete your refill. You can also message your provider via the myIslandHealth Patient Portal. If you’re not set up with the portal, click the link to begin: https://islandhealth.org/patient-portal/

Courtesy Lab Reminder
Island Primary Care – Orcas is happy to facilitate lab orders for an outside provider. For more information on our courtesy lab protocols, visit: https://islandhealth.org/department/island-primary-care-orcas/ .

Our Front Office Staff are Your Advocates
We ask for your patience and kindness when you are in our office. Please remember that our front office staff are your advocates, however, they are not clinically trained and cannot answer any medical questions. They will take a message and pass it along to the appropriate staff member to
help you. Your visit runs smoothly when we are kind to one another.
